Claiming Your Google Place Page

Claiming your Google Place Page is easy.  If you do not already have a Google Gmail account, you will need to create one.  You can create one here.  Google recommends you create an account that you don't mind sharing with others (login name / password) - that way, you can have someone else manage your page for you at a later time.

Login to your gmail account and visit http://www.google.com/places/.  Click "Get Started" and you should see a screen like this:

Click on the link to add your business and you will see a screen like the one below where you can input your phone number, so Google can find your business.

If your business is not listed, you will be prompted to create your new listing.  If your business is listed, you will be given the opportunity to edit your business and then verify ownership.

Verifying ownership requires that you input a code, which you can be given immediately if you let Google call your office, or you can receive your code by postcard 2-3 weeks later.

When you claim your listing and begin to input your business information, you will want to follow the guidance I provide in this tutorial website in order to fully optimize your listing to appear in search results.

You can also call (503) 890-6663 or email me (mikemunter@gmail.com) if you have questions about a particular section.

If you decide you'd just rather me handle all the work for you, that'd be great, too.  You can do that here
